Dr. Silakhone Douangkesone

Dr. Silakhone Douangkesone has spent most of his life advocating for the underserved. To help bring light to Arkansans with gambling addiction, he serves as the vice president of the Arkansas Problem Gambling Council in Little Rock. Since 2019, Dr. Silakhone Douangkesone has managed operations and facilitated public understanding of the growing addiction. He helps lead the way with better education about addiction for the public, through digital marketing efforts, Mental Health and Addiction Symposium, and efforts to change public policies. Alongside with the ARPG council , he has hosted a symposium and other community discussions on the issue in 2022 and will again help facilitate the upcoming annual conference this year.

Dr. Douangkesone is involved in other aspects of public health. He volunteered at free clinics in Honduras and was able to provide his medical training to assist locally, for free or reduced cost community clinics in mainly the Little Rock area. Among many other recognitions, He has won awards for educating children through the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters Program in 2011 and is a huge supporter and advocate for Survival Flight medical airlift programs. In addition, he has provided his medical expertise throughout countless emergency departments and services in Arkansas’s urban and rural areas.

Dr. Douangkesone earned a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Arkansas. He attained his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine, and interned at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He practices Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine in the rural communities.
